Minister's Wives:
Towers of Strength

“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”

– (Proverbs 31:10)

August 10, 1996 was the most incredible day of my life. It was the day that I married Elizabeth Massey. “Behind every successful man is a great woman.” This saying took on special meaning on this day and the days ahead.

Ministers often find themselves praying for strength, guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love. God answered my prayers with Elizabeth. I have always held my wife up, but it was not until this year that I truly realized that she was God's answer.

Our congregations often shout praises of their ministers, but rarely will you find mention of their wives. Maybe its's because the minister is in a visible position, or maybe we just forget. The wives of our evangelists need support and encouragement also. They do not

have an easy position. However, they have accepted a state in life that is honorable and blessed.

An example of an ideal minister's wife can be found in Iris Ramsey, the wife of long-time evangelist Johnny Ramsey. Sister Ramsey is the epitome of support and strength. Men, as well as women, would do well to examine her life and example. I will be writing an article in the next newsletter about Johnny and Iris Ramsey. It will include statements from several people who know them best.

In closing, I would like to encourage you to write a note to your minister's wife to show how much you appreciate her. Or, simply give her a hug. Any way that we can show our support and love for these great women of faith will go a long way.

Vendall W. Dollarhide

I want to introduce you to a special couple at Mission Printing: Harold and Theda Walling, members of the College Hill Church of Christ in North Richland Hills, TX. In early August, the Wallings celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Harold and Theda's dedication to each other is based on their dedication to the Savior.

The Wallings come every Tuesday and work diligently. You will find Harold in the small room trimming our books, and Theda will be busy collating the books. Mission Printing is special to the Wallings and they hold a vital place in our ministry.

Galatians 6:10 states, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Harold and Theda Walling are constantly seizing opportunities to help those around them. They are always willing to sit with those that need encouragement or just a shoulder on which to lean. You will rarely find this wonderful couple at home. They are usually sitting with someone who has a problem, waiting in a hospital during someone's surgery, or somewhere else helping someone that has a need, no matter the size. The Wallings are typical members of the Mission Printing family!

Sam Harding of the Brown Trail Church of Christ in Bedford, TX is another dedicated worker at Mission Printing. Sam is our printer and handyman. Last year he and our other printer, Tom Griffith, printed over 1,000 miles of gospel material!

If you ever meet Brother Harding, you will see a man that dedicates every aspect of life to his Savior and the church. Sam arrives at Mission Printing when most people are fast asleep. He is a perfectionist when it comes to working for the Lord. Brother Harding takes to heart Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Whether he is printing something that will be used by a neighbor or someone across the seas, Sam states, “It does not matter where the material is going. All that matters is God is glorified and the truth is being spread.” Because of this belief, Sam exclaims, “We should always put our best effort forward and always attempt to improve ourselves.”

The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness” (Proverbs 16:31). Sam Harding is most assuredly a man to be found in righteousness. However, he would be the first to tell you that he is not righteous because of anything that he does, but because Jesus Christ is his Savior.

Mission Printing has been blessed once again this summer with visits from young people. I am honored to know each young person that chooses to come to Mission Printing. They are a part of something amazing: the Mission Printing family!

God is at work in the next generation. Never let the world or satan convince you that the next generations are hopeless and that we should give up on them. The

young people that come to Mission Printing are willing to work, learn from those around them, and fellowship with Christians a “few” years older than themselves.

We were blessed with even more willing workers than in previous years. If you know any of these young people, please give them a hug and an encouraging word. Each of these precious souls is a true asset to the kingdom and the future of Mission Printing.

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Sekutedhlwe Gasela

I would like to thank you for the books that you sent. They will help us tremendously in spreading the good news to the lost. We were having problems with books and tracts to help us teach. Mission Printing is God's answer to our prayers! Please do not hesitate to send us anything that will help us spread the gospel.

We thank you all for helping us to minister the work of God. We are getting positive results. We will share the books with other congregations in our area. I will be sending regular progress reports on our work because Mission Printing is now a part of our mission family!

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Convoy Church of Christ
Dennis Peters

We appreciate your gift of tracts that you so generously supplied to us. We have been reading the wonderful material and planning to share them with others.

Atteridgeville, South Africa
Atteridgeville Church of Christ
Tebogo Ramatsul

We are elated that you have helped us achieve more in our evangelism program. The material which you sent will go a long way.

We will try to send the statistics of how the material has helped us. These are the most useful tools that we have had in a long time. Please continue to do the great work that you are doing. We will pray continuously for you not to get tired. We will share the material with other congregations that need material as well. The Atteridgeville Church of Christ in South Africa would like to thank you so much. God bless Mission Printing.

Chadiza, Zambia
Chadiza Central Church of Christ

All the congregations are very thankful for the good work you are doing at Mission Printing. Without you, it would have been much more difficult for us to share the gospel. We are small congregations and do not have many resources. Mission Printing is not a vital part of our resources for sharing the saving message of Jesus.

Your material has helped us greatly. People who live far away from us are now able to read the good news for themselves.

East Mailand, Australia

Many thanks for the gospel material you so kindly sent us. We will put it to good use for our Lord.

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
Hubert Brumant

On behalf of the church of Christ in St. Thomas, I want to say a big thank you for all the material that you sent. We have started distributing them and will continue until every one of them reaches a lost soul.

May God continue to pour his blessings on you and the ministry.

Taraba State, Nigeria

We count it a blessing to communicate with you at this time. God is doing wonderful things with our congregation through your ministry.

God has been sustaining us in the work to His Glory. However, one major shortcoming is the availability of gospel material. We now belive God will use Mission Printing to solve our need.

May God richly bless you for all your effort in disseminating the good news to all areas of the world.

Steenberg, South Africa
Steenburg Church of Christ
Clive Kruger

I am indeed grateful and thankful for the material that we received. It will certainly be distributed among the church members and used to study with those who are not in Christ yet. Thank you also for your encouragement. We wanted to take this opportunity to encourage Mission Printing in the wonderful work that you are doing to spread the word of God throughout the earth.

Continue to pray for us and the work of the Lord here in Steenberg, Cape Town, South Africa. We will remember Mission Printing in our prayers.

Bundabert, Australia
Targo Street Church of Christ
Roland McDowell

Greetings from the church that meets at Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. We wanted to express our appreciation for the material you sent to us recently. I know other congregations have also received the material. We are a small congregation of 30 members and we are excited about the help that Mission Printing has provided.

Castries, St. Lucia
Church of Christ L’anse Road

We are indeed excited about your venture in taking the gospel to the world through the “printed page.” We are quite aware of the fact that books and tracts play an important role in getting the truth across to unbelievers. We have also found your list of tract topics to be very interesting.

Our congregation looks forward to partaking in this wonderful ministry to spreading the gospel through the “printed page.”

We wish you great success in your mission. We hope, pray, and trust that the Lord will bless your efforts as you continue to pursue such an important venture in the church of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Windhock, Nambia
Steven LUirab

I want to thank you very much for sending us the colorful material. I am very grateful! Thanks be to the Almighty Father. Trust me, I do not have the words to express myself, but I say THANK YOU! Since I received your material, a day does not go by that I do not reach at least one lost soul.

Kelowna, BC, Canada
Charles and Lynne McKnight

We received three boxes of books from you today. Thank you so much for the valuable material. We will be able to spread these around and make good use of them.

I attended the School of Practical Evangelism (1980–1981) and had the happy experience of getting to meet Guy & Jessie Lee Caskey. We had some great times together. My wife, Lynne, and I would like to come your way sometime but it might take a year or so before that happens.

In the meantime, I pray that God will continue to bless your efforts. I dream of being in a position to help with your work sometime. We will see what the future brings.

We received the material that you sent us the other day. We thank you for the study aides. We will share them with other brethren and use them to the glory of God.

Merrylands, Australia
David Bussman

We recently received a vast array of material from Mission Printing. All of the material helps us to understand God's precious word.

We just wanted you to know what a pleasant surprise it was to receive this useful material. Indeed we are most grateful to you for thinking of us in this way. Please be assured that we will put the material to good use. We wish you God's strength in your mighty endeavors.

Kurrayong, Australia

We are full of pleasure and thankfulness to God because we now know of your concern for the needs of the church here.

The tracts and teaching material will be put to good use in edifying the brethren and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost.

The church here in kurrayong consists of 9 members who attend faithfully. We have no full time worker but each member is active and willing to try to share the gospel with others.

Thank you for the vast array of material that you were so kind and generous to send. May God bless Mission Printing for the work that you are doing.

St. Maarten, Netherlands, Antilles

It is with heartfelt joy that I respond to your mail. I am the preacher for the Cole Bay Church of Christ in St. Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles. It is an island of dual nationality, French and Dutch. There are three churches on the island: two English speaking and one French speaking.

We would be most delighted to receive materials from you. We would be most delighted to receive materials from you. We would also love to send you a donation to help in this tremendous outreach for Christ.

Many thanks for the material that you sent to the church in Bristol, England. We are involved in a number of mission points around the world and would like you to send material to them. Is this a possibility? Our contacts are in Malawi, Indian, and Guyana. If this is a possibility, then I will send the contact information.

Just wanted to say thank you for sending us the material for our Bible classes. We appreciate you thinking of us.

Perth, Austrailia
Mt. Lawley Church of Christ
Dave Jennings

We recently received a quantity of printed tracts and lesson booklets from you. We want to thank you for your great kindness. The City Beach and the Darling Range congregations here in Perth (western Australia) recently merged. We are now the Mt. Lawley church of Christ.

Our congregation is very keen to have the word of God spread in our small corner of the world. I'm sure we will be able to use the Mission Printing material to achieve this. Our thanks again and God bless.

Hong Kong, China
Wanchei Church of Christ
Jonathan Paltayan

The Wanchai Church of Christ is very grateful for the books which you sent. Christians, as well as those still searching for the truth, in Hong Kong, will surely gain much from reading your material.

I am Jonathan Palitayan. I have been preaching the gospel in this part of the world for several years now. I am a Filipino by birth, but I have been serving both the Chinese and English speaking congregations of the Lord's church here in Wanchai.

I arrived in Hong Kong in 1999. The church here had been actively involved in the Bible Correspondence Course program through WBS. However, the material that we have is very few. Most of the material was left by American missionaries who worked in Hong Kong prior to my arrival. We have just been photo copying the material that we have had, since the printing cost here is so expensive. Our problem concerning the shortage of gospel material is greatly reduced because of the new material that Mission Printing has sent us.

May I request that you send us more material? Furthermore, from time to time, people request English Bibles. We have lots of Bibles here but they are in the Chinese language. We have a few English Bibles, but they only contain the New Testament. We would appreciate it so much if you could send us some English Bibles that contain both the Old and New Testaments.

God bless Mission Printing and may your generosity lead to more souls being added to the Lord's kingdom.

Cebu, Philippines
Ludivico Magoncia

I just received the material that I had requested. Thank you so much for granting our request. I have many friends from different denominations with which I would like to share the truth. Your material will be of great help in doing this.

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India
Kakinada School of Preaching
Nehemiah Gootman

Thank you very much for sending us the extremely valuable literature. We just received the great books which are most helpful in teaching and reaching people. We have divided the books and we are giving a whole set to each of our teachers.

Kakinada School of Preaching was established in 1970 and has been faithfully serving the Lord and standing for the solid truth. That is why we appreciate the material which you sent. We have 10 teachers and 90 students presently in the school. We give training under a 2 year program.

I have visited Mission Printing when Brother Guy Caskey was alive. Brother Perry Cotham brought me to visit so I could see the wonderful work that you all do there. Thank you very much for the great work you are doing by helping with this type of material to countries like India.

New South Wales, Australia
Gosford Church of Christ

We would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness in sending us some of your material. These will be appreciated as we strive to tell others about Christ. Your generosity and fervor for spreading the gospel is commendable.

May the Lord bless the work you are doing.

Please remember to spread the news of Mission Printing to individual Christians and congregations of the Lord's body. Our director, Vendall Dollarhide, is always ready for an opportunity to share the blessings of this wonderful work. If he has not made a presentation to your congregation, we pray that you will encourage the church leaders to invite him. He is always willing to fill the pulpit in the absence of the preacher and make presentations during class time.
