2005 in Review

Past Year Brings
Heartaches and Great Joy

This past year was one filled with sorrow, excitement, and activity. We were saddened to have several members of the Mission Printing family pass from this life, but excited that they finally received the reward for which they had prepared. Many of our family members had illnesses and surgeries in 2005. Those that are recovering continue to need your prayers and encouragement.

Mission Printing experienced the addition of many new volunteers and financial contributors in 2005. We welcomed the College Street Church of Christ Ladies Bible Class (Waxahachie, TX) as a family member. This evangelistic congregation decided to support our work with volunteers. It is always uplifting when congregations and individuals see the value of the great ministry that Mission Printing is involved in around the globe.

Printing Accomplishments

30,060,000 pages
over 1,000 miles
over 75,000 pounds

These numbers would be incredible by professional standards. Our printers aren't professional printers. They are men in their 60s and 80s who get their strength and commitment from their Savior! These men printed over 1,000 miles of gospel material in 2005! Mission Printing has never printed this volume before. We used 167 rolls of paper, each weighing about 450 lbs. People are starving for the Truth and God is using Mission Printing to feed them. Praise God!

Our workers that collate the books are collating over 5,000 copies a day! Amazing! Especially when you know that our volunteers are in their 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s! "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power..." (2 Timothy 1:7).

Fire Destroys Storage Building

On January 5, 2006, Mission Printing was the unfortunate target of arson. The primary fire was set in the storage building in the back of the property. This storage facility was used to store packing boxes, gospel materials in foreign languages, machines that had been donated, and various other items. A fire was also set next to one of the exterior doors, however, no damage was done

We experienced extensive damage to the storage unit, but plans were made to attempt repairs. The repairs were begun this week, but during construction the structure collapsed. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Mission Printing would like to thank Bruce Carroll for his time and service in undertaking the job of rebuilding this building. We were happy that he was not hurt during the collapse of the structure. A special thank you also goes out to Bro. Carroll and Bro. Tom Griffith for undertaking the clean up and for hauling away the debris.

We live in a world in which Satan constantly throws obstacles in our path. However, Mission Printing will never be detoured from out mission of "world evangelism by the printed page." We will continue to proclaim the saving message of Jesus with even more determination. Mission Printing is stronger because we overcome through our faith in our Savior.

Our congregation greatly appreciates and applauds your tireless effort in sending us the precious Bible study material and the Bibles.

We have now added volunteer WBS teachers to work with us and they have found your material very valuable.

we are at this time asking you to consider sending us another shipment of the valuable material. We will keep Mission Printing in our prayers as you continue publishing gospel material so that the world can be transformed for Christ. We are amazed at your continued sacrifice.

“We were highly enthusiastic when we received your reply to our request.”

Anambra State, Nigeria

I sincerely appreciate Mission Printing's work in making sure the gospel gets to every “nook and cranny” of the world by the printed page. I pray to the almighty to bless you in abundance and to give you the wisdom and power to carry out this noble work.

I wanted to thank you for the material that you have supplied to me for the last few years. The Bibles were a source of edification and encouragement to all the brethren, especially the new converts.

The last material you sent were very useful as they were used by the local church and in my personal evangelism. I look forward to receiving more of your material.

May you receive greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. I write this message to express my thanks unto the Lord and to you also because I have received the books and the Bibles which you sent.

May the Almighty God bless Mission Printing and your powerful ministry. I am reading every book. In fact, other ministers in the church of Christ as well as denominations are being touched by the truths that are found in the pages of your material. The books are of great help!

I'm kindly requesting your literature. It will be used during evangelistic programs and to help mature Christians in God's word.

“Our congregation greatly appreciates and applauds your tireless efforts ...”

Andrha Pradesh, India

Thank you very much for your wonderful material. I received your parcel in good condition. The material is a great help to us. We will be more successful in His service with your literature at our side. Many perishing souls are benefitting by reading the books which you send us with love and prayers.

Apowa, Ghana

Thank you very much for the wonderful literature which you sent us. The material is of a great encouragement to us and to new Christians in other areas. We were highly enthusiastic when we received your reply to our request.

The material from Mission Printing is being distributed and we are winning many souls for Christ because of your help. We are needing more of your scriptural material for our local work and to give to those from other villages that have heard of Mission Printing and your mission.

A SPECIAL
THANK YOU
TO
MARVIN BROWN

Mission Printing has been led by God-fearming men for the past 26 yeas. One of these dedicated men is Marvin Brown. He has served on the board of directors for several years. Brother Brown has had health concerns the last couple of years. Because of these concerns, Marvin has chosen to resign from the board of directors. Brother Brown made the announcement at our last board meeting on February 7, 2006.

This Christ-centered man has worked many hours at Mission Printing in various capacities. He has taken care of the grounds, overseen roof repairs, and offered insight on many other projects and issues that have arisen over the years.

Brother Brown will not disappear from Mission Printing because of this announcement or his health. He will always be a part of our family and we will continue to seek his guidance and experience in the future. Thank you, Marvin Brown, for you service and love!

Changes in
Church Budgets
in 2006

The end of 2005 saw congregations facing hard financial times. Some congregations came to the realization that they had to make budget changes. Some of these changes meant lowering financial support or cutting it altogether for some ministries.

As a result, three of the congregations that have regularly supported Mission Printing for years had to withdraw their financial sponsorship for the time being. They did not do this lightly. The decision came with heartache and tears.

Mission Printing would like to thank each of these congregations for their support and encouragement through the years. Your financial support has helped us through the years, but it is your prayers and encouragement tha thas given Mission Printing it's continued drive of "world evangelism by the printed page." Our prayers are with you all.

We experience joy as 2006 begins as well. We have received news that the Fayetteville Church of Christ in Fayetteville, GA has been touched by Mission Printing's vision and has decided to include us in their regular monthly budget. Ray Cozart, one of the elders, comments, "We were impressed with your efforts to make printed material available to those in need." He continues by saying that they "...were impressed with the quality of material ..." God is opening new doors for Mission Printing in 2006. With God on our side and the support of the body of Christ, Mission Printing will continue to devel and send gospel material to the ends of the earth.

San Rafael, CA

The San Rafael Church of Christ has a long history dating back to the World War II era. In July 1942, the first worship service on record for the congregation took place. Within five years, they were able to select its first elders.

Hundreds of members have belonged to this church in the past, many going on to create other congregations in the area. Churches of Christ in Mill Valley, Novato, and Petaluma owe their beginnings to those who first worshiped in San Rafael. This has always been an evangelistic body of Christ.

In January of 2005, Mission Printing received word from Freed-Hardeman University that the San Rafael Church of Christ was having to close its doors. The closing was not due to scriptural problems or any personal dissensions. It was simply the changing landscape of the city and neighboring areas. Many of the members of the congregation had moved elsewhere or had died. By the end of 2004, there were only a few left at San Rafael. These Christians could not continue paying the expenses on the church building and the

preacher's home. It was then that the congregation decided it would be best to close and for the members to attend other congregations in the area.

The church had decided several years ago that if it ever came to this point, they would use the funds from selling their assets to support Freed-Hardeman University and Mission Printing. The San Rafael Christians designated 90% for Freed-Hardeman and the remaining 10% for Mission Printing. As a result of this Christ-centered decision, we were blessed with a more than generous gift from this wonderful congregation in 2005.

It is never a joy to see a congregation of the Lord's body close its doors. However, the Christians that belonged to the San Rafael Church of Christ should not be disheartened. Their legacy will live on through Freed-Hardeman, one of the brotherhood's greatest universities, and through Mission Printing, an organization dedicated to "world evangelism by the printed page." The San Rafael Church of Christ will forever be a part of the Mission Printing story and its members will always be a special part of the Mission Printing family!

— 7 —

Please remember to spread the news of Mission Printing to individual Christians and congregations of the Lord's body. Our director, Vendall Dollarhide, is always ready for an opportunity to share the blessings of this wonderful work. If he has not made a presentation to your congregation, we pray that you will encourage the church leaders to invite him. He is always willing to fill the pulpit in the absence of the preacher and make presentations during class time.

REMEMBER: The success of Mission Printing DEPENDS on you!
